HSL tickets for the residents of the neighboring municipalities
HSL has concluded agreements with several municipalities surrounding the metropolitan area on the basis of which the residents of these municipalities can purchase HSL area tickets at the same price as permanent residents of the HSL area. The agreements have been concluded with Hanko, Hyvinkää, Inkoo, Järvenpää, Karjalohja, Karkkila, Lohja, Mäntsälä, Nurmijärvi, Pornainen, Porvoo, Pukkila, Raasepori, Riihimäki, Siuntio, Tuusula and Vihti.
The connection passes for the residents of the surrounding municipalities are personal season tickets for adults that are valid in the following areas:
- Helsinki internal ticket entitles passengers to travel on buses, trams, commuter trains, the metro and Suomenlinna ferry in Helsinki.
- Espoo internal ticket entitles passengers to travel on buses and commuter trains in Espoo and Kauniainen.
- Vantaa internal ticket entitles passengers to travel on buses and commuter trains in Vantaa
- Regional ticket (Helsinki metropolitan area, former YTV area) entitles passengers to travel on city internal and regional buses, trams, commuter trains, the metro and Suomenlinna ferry in Helsinki, Espoo, Kauniainen and Vantaa.
Connection passes are loaded on HSL’s personal Travel Cards which can be purchased at Travel Card service points. The card costs EUR 5. The customer’s home municipality and customer group information, on the basis of which purchase rights of tickets are determined, is stored on the card at the service point. HSL area tickets for the residents of the surrounding municipalities are available only for adults, not for children, school children, students or other special groups.
Travel Cards can be loaded at any of HLS’s sales points, for example at R kiosks or ticket machines. The validity of the tickets does not depend on the validity of the train or bus pass into which the connection pass is attached. Instead connection passes can be purchased flexibly for the desired period of time between 14 and 366 days.
