Tickets and fares

Helsinki, Espoo, Kauniainen, Vantaa, Kerava and Kirkkonummi have an integrated ticket system. The same ticket can be used for traveling on buses, trams, the metro, commuter trains and the ferry to Suomenlinna. You can also transfer from one vehicle to another with the same ticket.

The price of a ticket depends on whether you travel within one municipality or between municipalities, as well as on the type of the ticket and how and where you purchase it. Period tickets allow you unlimited travel for the duration of the ticket within the applicable zone. In Helsinki, single tickets are cheaper when purchased from ticket machines than from the drivers.

Children’s tickets are for children aged 7 - 16 years. Children under 7 years of age may travel free of charge. Pensioners receiving national pension, full-time students and disabled persons are entitled to reduced rate tickets.

There are several types of tickets available for different travel needs. Travel Card is an economic choice as you can load it with period tickets valid for a period between two weeks and a year, or with value for purchasing individual tickets. Day tickets available on single-charge cards are valid for 1 to 7 days; you can also choose a 2-hour ticket or a round trip to Suomenlinna.

Single tickets are available from ticket machines, bus and tram drivers as well as conductors on commuter trains. Event organizers can purchase tickets at a reduced rate.
